Well, Duhhhhhhhh! The print head did need cleaning, Keith!

Coincidence raises its ugly head once more . . . the black cartridge ran out before Build 17063 was released; there was no reason to use the printer again until after the new Build was installed; knowing that the printer occasionally cleaned itself, it was easy to jump to the conclusion that Build 17063 broke my printer.

My abject apology to Microsoft, Build 17063 and everyone here who tried to help me; especially Keith! In an offline communication with Simrick, she showed me the light . . . and some of the inner workings of printers! Most importantly, she helped me to solve my dilemma!

And here I am with egg all over my face and calling myself a tech. Which is fairly true, at least in the hardware (building and repairing computers) arena.

Which means the old black cartridge may not have been empty to begin with....
