This is pure semantics - MS does not support ANYTHING in Insider versions when it comes down to it.
Even if you called MS Support and said I am struggling to upgrade using official iso (assuming one is available), what help are you going to get? Any advice from these guys will be patchy if they even gave any advice, and probably less informed than guys on this forum.
About the only difference is they would most likely ignore any Feedback based on using uuptoiso isos.
Well...
I did an In place/Settings Reset within 17025. The manner in which that commenced and progressed looked promising.
After that, it looked as if everything was 'factory defaulted'.
So, I decided to download the 17063 in place upgrade again; the way that commenced and progressed also looked promising.
However, at the 3rd Restart... black screen, blue logo and no progress wheel for 4 or 5 hours!!!
Geez, what is it gonna take!?!?!?
So do they support it or not? I have read post stating that MS said they do not support using homemade ISO to upgrade to the latest insider builds. IMHO MS is trying to get us to use the UUP method as this is the way they want to deliver all upgrades now and in the future. MS understands that the UUP method doesn't work for everyone so even though they are OK with us using homemade ISOs they won't support it because it's not the upgrade path they want us to use.
PThey do not support anything!
Insider versions are effectively supplied on a "caveat emptor" basis.
The statement "MS do not support homemade isos" can only be applied to release versions i.e. if you called MS Support and were having issues upgrading using a home made iso, they would say upgrade by official means or we cannot help you. The statement has no meaning for Insider versions.
At best, a VERY helpful MS Support tech MIGHT go out of his way and try and help you to upgrade an Insider version and would probably say the same if using an unofficial iso.
Of course, if it is a release version, you get an official iso anyway (ignoring those who made one before one was officially released.
