    vmware workstation 12.5.2

    Hi folks

    If you are running Linux Hosts this version of VMWARE workstation (and similar release of vmplayer) seems to have fixed problems of "wobbly mouse" etc -- also when scrolling inside the GUEST in windowed mode --I.E Windowed mode WITHIN the guest the scroll is stable.

    If you are using NVIDIA graphic GPU's - then ensure you have the NATIVE Nvidia graphics installed - not only does that enable 3D acceleration on the VM the HOST works better too. Also if there's a built in sound system via HDMI on the nvidia card it works better too (both on HOST and GUEST).

    On CENTOS 7 install packages nvidia-detect and nvidia-kmod from the elrepo repository. For other Linux Distros use your package manager to download and install -- I wouldn't unless you are a real glutton for punishment try and get source and compile.

    Cheers

    Thanks for the heads up. There probably aren't many using VMWare Workstation Pro. I bought it for what I was doing at work, but otherwise I don't think I would have spent the $250.

    Thanks. I decided last week that I would move my VM stuff to my spare old machine as I do work and gaming on new pc.

    Not sure why, however, for some reason my Ubuntu VM isn't putting out any sound. It works just fine in an older version of VMWare pro . .this has me perplexed. . .

    Hi there

    @Lee

    First is the SOUND enabled in the VM configuration (and of course working on the HOST !!!).

    Then if are you using sound via HDMI - if so you might see two possibilities

    Check for them both in sound config

    Here I had to select HDMI2 as the one that worked !!! -- no idea why but it did the trick. I've only ONE HDMI output from the graphics device !!!!. Use whatever sound configuration is available on your VM.
