Connecting a HP usb printer to hyper-v xp client

    Hi guys,
I am trying to connect a printer... and for the life of me can not get this to work, new to vm's and trying to get old tech to get along and play nice with some new tech at work.
I have a win 10 pro running a hyper-v client of win XP SP3 and trying to connect a usb HP laserjet 1320 to be able to print from the Xp client. (we use software that does not upgrade to win 10 and wont for the for see able future, trying to upgrade without changing software).
I have seen some instances where people are using a usb-over-ethernet to do this, however I am not sure how that works and do not have a server for this.
Anyone have any kind of helpful things I can try?
The printer was the main thing I figured would just plug and play, but I guess it does not see the usb's in hyper -v
    Thanks in advance

One way round this is to set up printer as a google cloud printer. For xp, you require XPS essential pack

So if pc is not google cloud print compatible, you set up host as a google cloud print server (I use a raspberry pi as a server for one of my printers). Then with vm, you just print to the google cloud printer which beams the print job to cloud and back to host via the server.

An easy and fast solution is to use Remote Desktop Connection instead of Virtual Machine Connection to connect to Hyper-V XP guest. This way the XP guest can use all host resources, including printer.

I gave this a shot, but my usb hosted wifi is not passed as well, puts me in a circle, without internet access passed to the client PC I can't use the cloud to print

Great idea though, something I had not thought of

I had come across people mentioning this as a solution, do you know a good tutorial on how to get this set up?
I had tried earlier and could not manage to "find" the host computer, clearly I am doing something wrong

It worked fine when I did it but maybe that because my printer was connected to host via WiFi not USB.
