    10049 now requires 2gb memory

Running 9926 in a virtual machine and tried to update to 10049 with windows update. Got an error saying Windows Technical Preview Requires 2GB of memory to run. So have updated VM memory and trying again.

Which version of Win10? The 64-bit version requires a minimum of 2GB and the 32-bit version only 1GB. However, what I read is that the VM memory requirement is in addition to what the boot OS requires. Add to that what may already be running in the boot OS and it could be easy to run low on memory. [I avoid the problems with VMs by installing test versions of an OS on computers I've resurrected, usually get them free when folks upgrade, have Win10 on a Dell Desktop originally with Vista from about 2008 and a 4-5 year old Toshiba Notebook originally with Win7.]

You may find the upgrade path has more stringent requirements than doing a clean install. I bet you did a clean install of 9926.

Possibly did. Is it possible to reduce the memory size back to 1gb as my host machine is crawling with 2gb as I only have 4gb installed.

Well I reduced the memory to 1gb and it boots and seems to run ok in the VM.

My 10049 x64 runs fine in 1GB. I usually give it 4GB, but 1GB seems to be fine. Here is what the resource Monitor shows:

And this is the same with 4GB

I don't know. I got 10049 thru an upgrade from 10041. But the upgrade itself I did with 4GBs.
