Hyper-V Enhanced Session Mode not working for me

Trying to create a 32-bit OS in a Hyper-V VM on a Win10 Pro 64-bit PC. The Guest OS I'm currently using is Win 7 Pro.

Ultimately, I'm looking to (a) run an old version of Act! and be able to use the Clipboard to cut n paste to & from the VM to the Host PC.

I've read more than a handful of good threads and *I believe* I've followed them, but I'm not getting Enhanced Mode or Enhanced Session to be anything but greyed-out.

Turn On or Off Hyper-V Enhanced Session Mode in Windows 10

Open Elevated Windows PowerShell in Windows 10

Shared clipboard between Hyper-V VM and Win 10 host

    Help!

    Bardi

ps: Would love to see this show up someday soon - but, FWIW, this interface isn't letting me attach a .jpg here because it says the extension is wrong.

When you start your VM are you getting a dialog that looks like the one below? If so, you need to make sure you DO NOT dismiss it. You need to click on "Connect" to get an enhanced session connection.

If you do not get that dialog, then open the Hyper-V Manager, right-click on the VM to open in Enhanced Session Mode, and select "Connect". You should see the dialog noted above, make sure to click on "Connect" to get an Enhanced Session Mode.

Finally, in the Hyper-V settings (NOT the settings for the individual VM), make sure that the option to use an Enhanced Session is enabled.

I am NOT getting that pop-up. I have checked both instances of Allow enhanced session mode (User as well as Server) and both are indeed checked.

I've established that - as well - Remote Desktop in Win10 Pro (64-bit) settings is enabled, as well as in the Advanced System Settings on the Win7 (SP1 32-bit) VM.

So far, no luck with Enhanced Mode.

Am thinking of trying a 32-bit version of Win10 as the VM. It *has to be* 32-bit on the VM.

Just wondering: I noticed that you stated that the guest is Win 7. Is it possible that Win 7 simply doesn't support enhanced session mode? Have you tried Win 10 or 11 as a guest? That should tell us pretty much immediately.

    We have our answer:

Windows 7 guests do not support Enhanced Session Mode. Note too that for supported OSes, they must be of at least the Pro edition since Home editions do not support Enhanced Session Mode.
