No Win 7 Pro VM internet

I have installed a Win 7 Pro VM on a Win 10 laptop (Version 10.0.19044, Build 19044), and attempting to bring up the internet, the system states, I'm connected, but the reality proves elsewise. I have External, Internal, and Private switches set, and that the system says I'm connected, cannot see the reason I am blocked.

If using Hyper-V, delete all switches and just use default (you cannot delete default switch).

Nope, thanx, but that didn't work. Then I started a new VM using the default switch, but, still, no joy.

In that case, you may need to use a legacy switch (must be type 1 vm).

I don't know about Win7 Pro, but I can confirm that my Win 7 Home Premium Hyper-V VM will only work with the Legacy Network Adapter.

Thank you. Following the Nakivo guide, I installed the Legacy Switch, but still no joy. Here is a "Ping" screen shot taken 5 or ten minutes after Win 7,s IE started attempting to access the internet.

I'm not sure what you mean by a 'legacy switch'. What you need to add is a Legacy Network Adapter. The easiest way to do that is in the Settings for your Hyper-V VM. Remove any existing Network Adapter, then select 'Add Hardware' and add the Legacy Network Adapter.

Connect this to the Default Switch to get internet access.

    Thanks for confirming that.

Unless it's in the systray's hidden icons I don't see any AV in your screenshot. If not, you may like to know that Microsoft Security Essentials is still available to download.

It still gets updates, and uses the same scan engine and definitions as Windows 10/11's Windows Security.
