    Install WSL issue

I would like to install WSL because linux distros in Hyper-V are irritatingly slow for my GPU, so I though to get better performance with WSL, with which I have 0 XP.

    Install fails with:
    Code:
    wsl --install -d Debian
    Installing: Debian GNU/Linux
An error occurred during installation. Distribution Name: 'Debian GNU/Linux' Error Code: 0x8000ffff
    Error code meaning:
    Code:
    C:\tools> .\err* 0x8000ffff
    # for hex 0x8000ffff / decimal -2147418113
      E_UNEXPECTED winerror.h
    # Catastrophic failure
    # 1 matches found for "0x8000ffff"

I have installed\enabled the following optional features:

    1. Hyper-V
    2. Virtual machine platform
    3. Windows Subsystem for Linux

There is no network issue, I tried with firewall disabled.

    Any hints are welcome.

You may have to download the Debian app too, from Microsoft Store, and run it.

    @NTN
Installing this app works and it gives me a console but I'm still unable to do anything with wsl.

thanks, I've tried all of it including troubleshooting section.

The only step I didn't try is installing kernel update package which fails because subsystem is up to date.

Anyway I've given up from WSL and using Hyper-V, I don't need linux often maybe once in a month just to test some stuff so it's not a big issue.
