The virtual drive was created by macrium ViBoot not manually by me through Hyper-V. So I'm not sure what you mean. I've gone gone over the hyper-v settings but yea...
When you use viBoot it creates a Hyper-V VM without a network adapter. Once you are happy that the VM boots up OK, shut it down, but don't close the machine window yet. Click on its File >Settings. In the 'Add hardware' section you can then add a network adapter. To connect to the internet or shares on the Host machine then connecting the network adapter to the Default Switch is sufficient.

Note that the VM is a new machine with its own unique hardware ID, it will not be activated by the Host machine's digital licence.

You can select the internet inteface during setup of the vm. It assume has setup an external adaptor - if not, you can usw default adaptor or none.

So you can. I've always added it later. Thanks...

Thanks guys! This issue is now resolved. I'm happy. :) Alot of possibilities open up now that increase the chances of getting my old windows to work on new hardware.

Technically I could install a new windows on the new pc then run macrium ViBoot and boot up a virtual machine of the old windows and inside that run macrium and make an image of the windows then transfer the image outside of the machine. Shut down the machine reboot the pc and boot up macrium stick and restore image. Correct guys? Would do this if the classic restore doesn't work.

Or if you guys got any other ideas that could utilize this virtualization tech to the benefit and increased success rate of my goal would be cool.
