multi / cross VM license question

Question for you all, looking for the best place to find an answer to a question. I'm running a Qubes OS (Linux) with VMs that include a Win 10 and a Win 11. I don't want to affect my regular machine with Win 10. To activate the VM(s) I will need to purchase a key. If I buy a Win 10 key, activate the VM, can I use the same purchase in the Win 11 VM to "upgrade" the Win 11 (without affecting the Win 10 VM))? Or would it have to be a separate purchase for each VM?
    Thanks!

My understanding is that you will need a separate key for each VM.

You can connect both the vhdx files for w11 and w10 to same virtual machine and create a dual boot vm just like you can with a real pc. Only minor downside is you can only run one at a time.
