How to gather more informations about why I get the error 43

    Hello,

We are a team composed of 2 hypervisor programmers, one system administrator and one nvidia developer and we are working together to improve the bhyve hypervisor for freebsd. We have been able to enable the passthrough for the most powerful nVidia graphic cards within Linux as guest os and now we are trying to do the same thing for Windows 10-11. What I'm trying to do now is to gather more informations about the reasons why we get the error 43 when we try to pass thru the RTX 2080 ti graphic card from Freebsd to a Windows 10/11 vm. We have enabled the WMI tracing inside Windows 11 and we have produced the error 43 (it's enough to disable or remove and re-enable and reinstall it),but since we are not so experienced in this area we don't know where to look in the event viewers panel for the most useful data that can help us to understand. And as you know are also different techiques to apply and / or places where to look ?

    Hi there,

I don't know of any tool that can give more info about that.

If I read correctly, there are some power issues involved here:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems(Code 43) for my graphics card | NVIDIA

    But as to passthrough:
I suspect error 43 in this case to be because the card itself blocks it as it is not allowed to be passed through. "hardware device can't be identified"

    Have a look here:
Search results for 'error 43' - Level1Techs Forums

    And here:
How to Solve Code 43 Nvidia GTX10xx or RTX20xx Gpu Problem

There are some workarounds on the matter and maybe there is more information on why you get that error.
But I never tried something like this myself so I won't be able to help any further.
