In W11 VM, restart to advance boot options don't work (shutdown /o)

In my Win 11 Pro 64-bit (version 21H2) Virtual Machine in Hyper-V on my Win 10 Pro 64-bit host (version 21H1), in cmd running as Admin, the command "shutdown /r /o" does not work.

In cmd in the Win 11 VM, I get the error message "The parameter is incorrect.(87)"

    Thoughts? Thanks.

VM related error, check below the page, post (Roger Zander's) here:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com...t?forum=ws2016

    In short:
The specific command in VM via RDP doesn't work, but it works in Hyper-V console.
In your case you might switch from Enhanced Mode back to console and try again.
Enhanced Mode behaves like RDP mostly.

Hopachi - thanks for fast and knowledgeable response!

    As I'm new to VMs
    1. Which "Enhanced" in Hyper-V should I turn off? The one under "Server" or the one under "User"? (This is in "Hyper-V Settings" - but let me know if that's the wrong place to look.)
    2. I am guessing I first have to shut down my Win 11VM, then turn off the correct "Enhanced", then re-Start the VM?
    3. Or must I shut down the VM, turn off "Enhanced", turn off the Hyper-V Connect Manager and then restart Hyper-V Connect Manager and then my VM?

EDIT - UPDATE - I turned off "Enhanced" under "Server" and rebooted the VM. In cmd, shutdown, /r /o did not work. but msconfig into Safe Boot did.
    So - how can I get cmd,-> shutdown, /r /o to work?

In any case, even with msconfig, I was unable to boot into UEFI firmware settings. (No, I don't plant to change anything - just want to see because I am learning the basics of VM.)

ALSO, my reboots of the VM have difficulty with the Display size of the VM. Sometimes they follow the originally designated 1280 x 1024, but sometimes not and the VM opens smaller.

NEW EDIT - shutdown /r /o /t 00 worked, but when I click on Restart to Adjust UEFI Firmware and restart, the next screen
See this copy of that error message:

In W11 VM, restart to advance boot options don't work (shutdown /o)-error-reboot-after-select-reboot-into-uefi-firmare-settings.gif

And on restart I'm back to normal Win 11 VM.

    So - what next?

    1. This 'enhanced' mode:
In W11 VM, restart to advance boot options don't work (shutdown /o)-image.png
    2. There is no need to turn off the VM as enhanced mode works in a started VM.
Enable via its own console window.

    3. nope, same as in 2.

NEW EDIT - shutdown /r /o /t 00 worked, but when I click on Restart to Adjust UEFI Firmware and restart, the next screen
That won't work the same way as on a real PC; to go in the UEFI settings of the VM, I don't even think it's possible in Hyper-V on that level because you can go to those settings in the Hyper-V Manager -> VM settings window, when a VM is turned off.

There is a chance the /r /o parameter is OK as you did it and the message you received is normal: there is nothing to do at that level; change UEFI 'firmware' settings in the VM settings window.
