    How to complete VMConnect.exe <ServerName> <VMName> /edit ??

When I use Hyper-V Manager to Connect to my one and only VM, it prompts me whether I want to set certain parameters, such as display size and (in "More") what local assets I can use (like the hard drives on my host). It has an option to make my selections permanent.

But if I make those setting selections permanent and want to change them later, there does not seem to be an easy way to get back there.

A number of forums say the answer is to open a cmd with Administrator privileges and type
    VMConnect.exe <ServerName> <VMName> /edit

But how do I know how to fill in <ServerName> and <VMName> ?

My first guesses about these don't work.

Or is there an easier way?

    Thanks.

for <servername> use the name of your host PC, the one that you see in the left hand pane of Hyper-V Manager.

For <VMName> it's the name as it appears in Hyper-V Manager's list of Virtual Machines. If your VM name name uses spaces enclose it in quotes: "VM name"

Bree and Kari - Thank you both, especially for graphics!
Also, I discovered that I need to drop the <>, and the <ServerName> can be replaced with localhost, at least in my case.

Kari - I just tried your method (two posts above), and it doesn't seem to do anything.

First, "Edit Session Settings" appears only after I start the VM, not before.

Second, when I click on it, nothing happens except that the focus of my Win 10 PC switches from the Hyper-V Manager window to the Win 11 VM, but without any particular sub-window opening to show me any options to edit.

Third, if I open a cmd with admin privilege and run the command noted above, I get the settings options again, but if I either make a change or hit cancel, the Hyper-V Manager opens a second instance of my Win 11 VM, so I end up with two instances running. Is that correct?

If it makes a difference, I have my Win 11 VM set (using a regedit change and other changes) to open without a password and without waiting for me to hit a sign-in button on the lock screen. After I hit Start, the Win 11 VM goes all the way to running without my doing anything further.

    Thanks again.

Kari, fabulous that you informed us of the extra item "Edit Session Settings".

    Worked for me.

(I confirm that it appears only if VM is started.)
