You cant run a mac guest in vmware, hyper v, etc unless the host is a mac. The EULA for OSX states Apple hardware only.

But there's been changes since my MacBook Pro from mid-2010 died just as the new macOS came out and now the new ones are not on Intel CPUs.

No, for the past like 10 years mac's have been on intel hardware, but thats what the eula was. Its M1 now, and thats made and owned by apple. Still EULA says its a no no

My MacBook Pro was from mid-2010 and for some reason the drive controller on the motherboard died in 2019, wasn't very cost-effective to put it back in the hands of Microsoft for repair. It had come with Microsoft Office Version 2008 with a free upgrade to Version 2011 when released, worked well for 9 years. In the 2 years since I've been in a vet's office and a dentist's office where Windows 7 was running on a Mac Notebook, probably due to their non-film X-ray equipment, couldn't get a look but would imagine they were running something like Parallels or Boot Camp. It'd be like using Wine on Linux to run Windows programs.

They probly bought the mac's for applecare. Way better support and customer service than if it was a dell and it broke.

    Hi folks

This has been discussed for a long time now -- the APPLE OS (IOS) is essentially proprietary and protected -- although Windows is also proprietary there's no restrictions on using it as a Virtual machine - provided the activation requirements are met. Apple EULA states that IOS can only be used on Apple hardware -- there was a "Hackingtosh" website which tried Virtualising apple but I believe it ran incredibly slowly.

If you want an APPLE OS then the only answer I believe is to buy apple hardware.

    Cheers
