Yes, except for an image made with Windows built in imaging program. That one is quite finicky and you might have issues.

If you just want to see the files, Macrium Reflect can mount an Macrium image as a virtual drive, you can then explore it with File explorer. Paragon may be able to do something similar.

But for a real test of what's in a Macrium image you can't beat their viBoot. This allows you to boot a Macrium image as a Hyper-V virtual machine. If you don't have Pro, then starting in Reflect v8 viBoot also supports Virualbox VMs, viBoot is included in the Free edition of Reflect.

I also need it for images made with windows from the control panel, type 1 e 2 , i don't know if are the same.

You can install the trial version of Macrium Reflect V8 and if you decide not to buy a licence it teverts to a free version with the (additional) paid features disabled. For most users, the free version is fine.

Just google Windows 10 Pro product key. You will find sites selling licenses for less than $10 USD. I cannot comment on the reliability of such sites, but I have test a couple of the <$10 product keys and they do work.

I suggest you give up on Windows' own imaging.
MS said not to use it in their announcement of Windows 10 Version 1709 and have never withdrawn that warning

Use Macrium reflect / Acronis TI / Aomei backupper / Easeus todo backup / Paragon backup & recovery

Would it be okay for me? Does the license cost less than an upgrade to windows pro?

Reliability is the most important thing. Can you mention any reliable ones?

certainly I'm starting to use macrium but the old backups (microsoft ones) I still have to check if I need them.

I don't know if this could be enough Free Data Recovery software | Paragon Backup & Recovery Community Edition, however my question is for past backups, if I can make backups on vhd for the future I think there are no problems. However, still not clear ideas on how to proceed.

I missed your comment. I'm worried. How should I proceed, there is a road anyway, even a winding one ...

But does the 7 free version of macrium have viboot? Excuse me but I'm confused ...

It's free. Version 8's free one has viBoot.

You will use v8 anyway so you don't care.

You download the v8 trial then it reverts to the v8 free one, as Bree said.

There's nothing wrong with Paragon but Macrium is so commonplace and used by so many TenForums members that you can get plenty of help for it here.

Macrium Reflect [free edition] is often recommended in this forum for making system images. Other utilities are available but this one is so commonplace that you can get plenty of help for it.
    - I understand that many TenForums members use the free version and find it perfectly satisfactory.
