    WinXP Inside VMwear

    Hey guys,
    Hope everyone is going well!

Just a quick question, I'm trying to set up a printer for my dad inside a windows xp VM. However, the printer uses a combo of 3 connecters; Firewire 1394 and a Centronics®-type 8-bit parallel interface, (IEEE 1284 Nibble mode).
I'm quite lost as the I can't find either of the connecters passed on or inside the VM anywhere.

Would anyone have any ideas at all?

    Many thanks in advance, :)

You need to download the XP drivers and install manually -

XP works fine with all sorts of legacy devices - I'm using an old Minidisc Recorder (Pro / studio grade) model -- much too good to junk !!!! so I had to install those drivers manually

    Try this link for starters

How to restore 1394 Drivers in Windows XP ?

Not sure about the old Centronics printer thing but I'm sure in the VM config you can add a "parallel device" '

You probably will need to add a W10 1394 driver too (in the HOST) -- not sure about how to do that -- some hardware is just "too legacy" even for me !!!

    You could try this :

How do I install the Firewire 1394 Legacy Driver in Windows 10? | United Kingdom

    Here's my XP VM running

    Hey @jimbo45

    Thanks for the post! :)

Ohh that looks exactly like what I am hoping to achieve. You have saved my from pulling out my hear without any idea where to even begin looking haha :)

I'll have to set it up latter on but will come back with any good results.

    Cheers
