Oh, your running Win 10 Home. Hyper V is in pro.

Hmm...Does the User name you were using have administrator privilege?
Is the built in Admin active?
You might try that.

A complete backup? yes.
Just the files no. Vmware has plenty of registry entries.
Is you Home version 32 or 64 bit?
Check to see if you have the right version of Vmware.
It will probably have to match your windows version

If you do not have the installer file for VMware 12, you can get it here. Just a hunch, but if you re-install the VMware 12 you may be ok. Just a hunch. Older versions are listed on the right side.
