Is it possible to virtualize Mac OS X without any additional software?

    I'm curious...

    Through (free) Hyper-V?

What about via (paid) VMware Workstation, version 15 or 16??

    TIA

Free Vmware Workstation Player is sufficient, no need to use Pro; however, a community patch is needed for both of them. Tested & working for Sierra/HighSierra/Mojave without issues; big problems for Catalina (very complex installation, inability to install updates). Maybe using an unofficial bootloader, currently at very low position in my todo list.

I honestly wouldn't bother. I've tried hackintosh in the past, I've done the EFi-X bios chip to run a hackintosh and I've tried OSX as a VM. All have been plagued with issues. EIther updates won't work, drivers need patches, and performance is usually abysmal.

I bought a MacBook Pro back in 2014 to learn about the MAC. It's been very solid, and performance and apple experience has been solid.

I fully agree with the comment I highlighted in above quote.

I have been playing with HacIntosh in both VMware and Hyper-V, only to learn that the experience is so bad that there's no reason to try it.

As @pparks1 has done, get a Mac if you need MacOS.

With some help of clover bootloader, catalina can be updated to current build (even under old vmware 12.5.9) so absolutely no reason for warehouse@home. Yes, a bit difficult. Yes, not for everyone, especially at tenforums.

    Thanks for all the comments!
Guess that I will pass on the attempt.
