    Hyper-v default switch (NAT), no internet network

    Hi all, I have a problem with my hyper-v default virtual switch.
    If I want to have an internet access on my Hyper-v win 10 virtual machine, i have to start (once) windows sandbox (workaround).
    After windows sandbox is started, new NIC is created in my win 10 virtual machine and DHCP gets correct IP address.
    Now my question is if there exists a fix for this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    I am running win 10 2004. I had the same issue before on win 10 1909.

    Welcome to Ten Forums @bacekkk

    As you had this issue in 1909 before updating to 2004 then it is unlikely 2004 is the issue here.

    One thing you might try is to go into 'Turn Windows features on or off' and remove Hyper-V then, after the required restart, go back in and turn it back on again.

    This will reinstall Hyper-V and create a new Default Switch. All your VMs will still be there after doing so, but if you had set up your own virtual switch then you'll need to recreate it and reconnect any VMs that were using it. Any VM using the Default Switch should not need any settings changing though.

    @Kari may have other suggestions....

    Hi Bree, thanks for fast response.
    I will definitely try to do that during weekend, but I have doubts. On 1909, when I switched off sanbox i was then able to get internet access, but once I have switch sandbox ON again, i had to go to the workaround once again.
    I think many people are having the same issue, or at least had if now, since I have 2004 version will be fixed. I will see soon.

    One more thing, is it necessary to turn off and on also sandbox, or should I play with it?

    I've not used Sandbox on my Hyper-V host machines, so cannot comment. I have successfully removed and reinstalled Hyper-V though, I had got into a situation of my own making where I had multiple Default Switch(1), ...(2), ...(3), etc. and just wanted to tidy it up.

    Let's see if Kari has anything to add regarding Sandbox.

    Hi Bree, thanks a lot, it worked. Workaround is not needed any more.
