hyper-v external switch messes up internet on host

    Hi
Im running gameservers therefore i can not use the default switch as that is NAT. I would like to use my host machines network adapter(have only one internet access, so needs to be shared), but if i make an external virtualswitch the internet messing up as i never seen before... The remote desktop connection stays between the server and my desktop pc, and also the gameserver running doesn't kick players out, so they can still play, but no web connection in browser and also the gameservers linked http services (plugin services) can not be reached by the gameserver .... So before i'd go any further that is what i'd really need help with, 1st: when i create the ext switch, dont mess up existing internet on host, 2nd:make the ext switch to be able to reach internet on VM as well... I found topics on 2nd issue, but couldn't get to it as long as i have the 1st issue to be solved...

    Thanks for your time.

I was reading a lot here about the topic, and if i can make my gameserver reachable for players from the VM that would be
awsome, because the host OS has flawless internet connection and running a gameserver at port:28015-28020
And using default switch on VM also has flawless internet and running a gameserver which noone can see from outside
on port28021-28028.. The connection on VM is set to auto DHCP, so i guess that is what i should align with the host connection settings only at the end..... Could you help me with that?

    Hi,
I have similar issue and I've spent hours to solve it in vain. I have HyperV enabled with several VMs created. I have external switch created for my Wifi connection that is used by the VMs. Everything was running just fine for a long time until recently. I did not do any changes to my network interfaces.
Right now every time I log into any of my VMs, my Wifi connection on the host is lost. I can still connect to the internet from the VM, but I cannot do anything from the host. Wifi just gets disconnected.
I suspected Windows Update kb4532693 as the culprit, but uninstallation did not help for this.
This is really annoying problem as all was working properly until recently and it's driving me nuts.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

    Hi,
I found solution to my issue.

My virtual switches are external ones and I am on a corporate network.
I switched from WiFi network card to cable connection and I had similar problem. It turned out to be our internal IT limitation on the physical switch. It allowed 1 MAC address per connection, so this is why it behaved this way.

After changing that limitation I was finally able to connect to multiple VMs and my PC at the same time from my cable connection. I am still waiting for the same change for my WiFi.
