Install free Excel/Word in Sandbox to check files for safety?

    Windows 10 Pro 1903

I'd like to use Sandbox to check files (make sure they aren't dangerous). I can install Adobe Reader to check PDFs, but haven't figured out how to put a free Word or Excel (viewer?) to check documents and spreadsheets. Any suggestions?

I think in such a situation I'd install the free LibreOffice in the Sandbox, can work with a lot of file formats opening and editing and Saving as same format or changing to another. The dangerous part with Office-created documents usually is with Macros that can contain infections, probably also with other programs.

Thank you that works. Now I can preview Word, Excel and Powerpoint files to see if they're legit.

You're welcome. I like the program and put it on all my computers and free is always good.

Actually macros are not infections nor viruses. They are written in VB (VBA more precisely) and yes they could delete files or cause other problems on your system especially if UAC is off. To use a sandbox or Libre is way overkill. Just go into excel and disable macros temporarily or permanently, end of issue.

That's pretty much what I was getting to back in my Nov. 27, 2019, post/reply.
