    Windows Sandbox problem

Nothing happens when I copy folders from certain host directories to the Windows Sandbox on Windows 10 1909. I successfully copied a folder from a different host directory (I'm trying to do it from the host's desktop but to no avail) but if I try to copy folers from certain host directories (at least from the host's desktop), I can't paste them on the Windows Sandbox.

Also, it takes a lot of time copying host folders from directories where I can copy them.

Even after doing a clean install, I still have these problems.

Hmm. I've copied stuff out successfully. Never tried in. Would a folder of a few photos be a good test?

    UPDATE

So I created a test folder. Put two images and an .flv in. Copied the entire folder, pasted successfully into Sandbox.

I believe dragging and dropping is not supported.

I dragged and dropped this folder from a different directory (I'm trying from the desktop with no success) just fine and if I try to copy it from a directory (at least from the desktop) I can't paste it on the Sandbox as well as drag it. Anyway, it takes a lot of time copying folders with some GBs there (when I can do it).

    Hi folks
OK this doesn't really help the OP but I have to be curious -- if the Sandbox is meant to provide system security by isolating content it seems rather strange that you can copy stuff OUTBOUND but have trouble copying stuff INBOUND.

The sandbox provided it has decent system isolation --which is presumably what it's intended for -- shouldn't matter even if it ends up with every possible piece of virus and malware on the planet so long as this stuff is ISOLATED from the host machine.

Being able to copy stuff OUTBOUND (i.e FROM Sandbox TO Host) IMO rather mitigates the whole point of using a sandbox.

    Cheers

In my case I can't even copy files or folders from the Sandbox to my host's desktop. Anyway, is it possible to share a directory between the host and the Sandbox? If so, if the host or the Sandbox gets infected may the other one get too (this question is also valid for Hyper-V)?

It's easy to configure Windows Sandbox, with preinstalled software and sharing host folders. See this tutorial: Windows Sandbox - How to configure in Windows 10

If you share a host folder which has a "dirty" executable or any contaminated, infected file, then yes, the Sandbox or a Hyper-V VM would be infected, too, when that file is run or opened on VM or Sandbox.

The other way around, it is practically impossible for an infection on VM or Sandbox to get to host, if you do not specifically share an infected file with host.

Thanks, but do you know how can I fix these problems?

What are the certain folders? Can they be copied and pasted outside of sandbox? I was able to copy and paste to and from Sandbox without any problem. Did you try [Ctrl] V to paste?

I can't copy a folder that is GBs in size and is in the host's desktop but if I move it to the host's documents folder and try to copy it to the Sandbox it works. Yes, I always use CTRL + V. Anyway, even if it works it's very slow and the Sandbox takes some time to load and is heavy on resources.

I still have the same issues on 2004.

EDIT: After installing Windows 11, I no longer have the first problem, and regarding the second, maybe it's normal and my PC is simply slow.
