Low Virtual Memory

I know this might start a slight argument after some of the articles I've read. Yesterday I was editing a video and all three monitors blanked out and came back. My color profiles on the monitor went to their stock setting and it was a quick fix of just rebooting the machine. I immediately went to event viewer and I got a low virtual memory error. I'm near positive that I dont have this set correctly and i know that I had the system checked to not self manage. So that I dont have this issue again,... what should I have my settings set to in regards to this. I know that I have more than enough resoruces... I'm pushing 64gb of Ram and I have a dedicated scratch disk. Now that I write this i dont think that I had the scratch disk set properly to the right drive but I would still like to hear input on the correct settings I should have if anyone could

You don't give much detail like what video editor and video details is are you using 4k 60fps how long is video?

Sorry. So I was using Premiere Pro, the video was just a screen recording of my desktop. So nothing really heavy. I thought I had all my details of the machine that popped up when i posted. Nonetheless.... it's an i9 7900x processor with a m.2 ssd drive with the os and programs on it. All the creative programs are all set to a 250gb ssd scratch disk. But I did notice that for some reason Premiere was set to scratch to the M.2 for some reason. The video card is a Nvidita GTX 1080 8GB card. The other thing is too I have MSI afterburner running as well. Whether or not that tripped the error I dunno. I'm just going off the error report in event viewer that flagged Low Virtual Memory

Go for a seperate Hard Drive and use that for the Pagefile. Set initial to about 200mb and max to about 25gb. It can be abit of trial and error so have a mess about with different amounts.
It used to be the maximum pagefile was 1.5 x the amount of ram installed. You could try that and see how it works. Im not 100% sure on the optimum inital and max amount these days as i leave it set to auto

Ok. I can do that I have a spare 250gb drive in there that I use for scratch for all the Adobe tittles

I have always been under the impression to run the pagefile on a completely blank drive and nothing else, but after trying it with other folders in the same location, it made no difference to how it performed !

So what your suggesting is, since I have more than one harddrive in there literally only as scratch for the other programs that I should set the paging file to that drive rather than on the drive that contains the OS and programs that I'm running on a daily basis ?

You got it ! You could use a USB drive for the Pagefile but im not entirely sure how long it would last :-0

You will have two files. Pagefile and Hyberfil. Running this on another drive could potentially fix any Hibernation or sleep issues. Something else to figure out !
