Value "zero" means "Entry enabled, Hardblock active" so you didn't use the Compatibility Administrator program correctly.

I rarely use VMWare so I'm going to wait a month to see how this pans out. Corporates are going to be screaming at M$ and VM.

The registry patch is a life saver.

Two older systems with Xeon processors would neither:
Allow a newer version of VMware to be installed - saying unsupported CPU.
Nor allow VMware Workstation 12 or 11 to run.

I can now run again after the patch.

I am stuck on VMWare 12 due to current hardware (CPU) being incompatible with later versions. The regedit fix worked perfectly … back up and running. Thanks

Well in the end I just ended up getting the latest free player and use that for the time being. I hope that version 14.x will get updated.
