Cannot RDT to VM on same PC
I have a Windows 10 Hyper-V VM running on my Windows 10 1903 18362.329 Desktop. Was working fine 5 or so days ago. Just tried to RDT to it and am getting the following error:
Checked Windows Update and I had two updates on the 30th and one on the 29th.
I'm going to roll them back one at a time and see if that resolves the problem. Will post results here.

That error message in most cases means that there is already an existing remote desktop connection to that VM (remote host), or Hyper-V Enhanced Mode connection for that VM is open.
The simplest solution is to shut down the VM, and restart virtualization host. After restart, start the VM but do not start Enhanced session. You should now be able to use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to it.

Enhanced mode is open. I can connect if I use the IP address. I'll turn off enhanced mode and see if that fixes it. Thanks yet again.

Now I see the name of the VM, WIN10PRO-HYP-V and RDT work again.
Another self-inflicted wound, caused by my playing around and forgetting what I had done.

Important lesson here is that you can only have one remote desktop connection open from a remote client (virtualization host) to remote host (virtualization guest, VM). Hyper-V Enhanced Session Mode is fully based on RDP, so it counts as one console session (remote desktop connection).
To RDP to VM, often it is enough to just close the Virtual Machine Connection window. As you know, VM runs in the background when its windows is closed. When closed, its existing console sessions are terminated, and you can initiate a new remote desktop connection to it.

I didn't realize this. Well aware now. Thank you.
