HyperV does not respect screen res set in grub for Android x86?

    Hi.
I'm running Android x86 using HyperV.
I want to change the screen res to 800x600.
To do that, I add the following line to the grub boot menu: vga=789
I've also tried adding it to the menu.lst file

It seems that the GRUB respects this setting, but as soon as it hands over to Android, it overrides it with the default resolution, which makes the window too big for my screen.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi there

I've seen this fault before -- although with another guest OS -- the possible solution is to set the resolution in RDP (on the HOST of course) for accessing the the VM rather than setting the screen display within the guest or to run (annoyingly I'm afraid) in Windowed mode. I've had problems with Linux guests and screen display mode with HYPER-V. However if using Windowed mode you can at least get a scrollable screen even if you might not be able to expand / reduce the size as in the classic case with Windows operation.

With most Linux distros you can do some things with the X-server (the display part if you are using a GUI) but although Android is Linux based I don't know enough about that OS to know where to start looking for bits to tweak.

What are you using on the Android system for display --I assume you are using RDP on the Windows machine so you'll probably need something like a tiger vnc server service on the VM to handle the RDP requests from Windows.

Kari is our resident HYPER-V guru here so he might have some suggestions for you.

    Cheers
