virtual machine

I want to build an oracle VM.
I have a new PC with UEFI I am not used to.
It is set to the old BIOS and secure boot is disabled.
I found virtualization by searching and chose to change virtualization from disabled toe enabled. Is this what I should have done to use Oracle's VM?
If I click default it likely will revert to the manufacturer's settings not the builders so I do not want to fool around with it.

Virtualization isn't always necessary for VirtualBox but you will get better performance if it is enabled. It is necessary if you want to run a 64 bit client OS, even if the host is 64 bit.

That is unless there is a downside to enabling it. I wonder if they come though disabled, as this one is.?

There are some possible security exploits associated with virtualization. It isn't a serious problem at the present time. As for the future, nobody knows. Since most people won't need it anyway and it is easily enabled if it is, some manufacturers prefer to err on the side of caution and leave it disabled by default. Others have it enabled. But if you are using VirtualBox I would certainly have it enabled. And as mentioned before, running a 64 bit client OS requires it.

I will not play in the UEFI much and was thinking of taking some photos of pages before I do anything.
B/c of my level, and due to the increased complexity of the new BIOS/UEFI I doubt I will look for trouble.
Thank you for the explanation about security and the VM's. I guess even a re-installation only affects the OS so I would be stuck if I made an error.
I cannot use default b/c the builder set it to disable secure boot so it is like the older BIOS. If there was an issue, self inflicted, I would be stuck as default would bypass his setup.
Maybe they will create an imaging of the UEFI. :)
