    VirtualBox Win10 guest Display issues

Hope this is the right place to post this.
I am running Windows 10 Insider previews, 32 and 64,as a guest in Win7 host.
When I have guest additions installed I only have 800x600 and 1024x768 available as screen resolutions. Auto resize does not work.
I have no issues when running other OS's just Win10.
I have tried uninstalling, re-installing GA. Settings are as recommended. 3D is not available due to hardware graphics acceleration.
Any ideas or suggestions on getting resolutions/re-size to work?

    Thank you for the reply
I have the extension pack installed. I believe that is where the guest additions comes from. I reinstalled it and the GA anyway.
Nothing has changed, still have the same issues.
Auto-resize does not work and only have the 2 resolutions available.

    Hi there
I assume your HOST machine is a Windows 7 machine. So check that the HOST display driver is up to date. Apart from that I run VMWare so I can't give you any more advice on VBOX --you've already installed the VBOX additions or whatever it's called these days. That (the equiv in VMWare is VMware tools) normally fixes display problems on GUESTS.

I'm surprised the 3D thing isn't working either -- normally there's something in the VM configuration file to enable this or in the Create Virtual Machine wizard. If you have the option also on the HOST machine for hardware acceleration ensure that is enabled too.

OK this is VMWARE but I'm sure the VM config / setup screens must be similar in VBOX

In VirtualBox 6 you can switch between virtual graphic cards.

What is the Graphics Controller used at the VM Display settings?

Try switching between VBoxVGA and VBoxSVGA. Second is newer and better in performance but with any issue then switch back to VBoxVGA, start VM again and reinstall GAs.

After any switch of virtual graphics card, reinstall GAs just in case.

The use of VBoxSVGA is now default and recommended but there were some issues, in one of the versions, with it if the 3D acceleration was disabled. Test it with or without 3D acceleration but the choice depends on your preference and whether it works or not.
