    Problems Installing Windows 10 Pro in VMware Workstation 15

    Problems Installing Windows 10 Pro in VMware Workstation 15-capture-1.jpgProblems Installing Windows 10 Pro in VMware Workstation 15-capture-2.jpg

    Hi.

    I am having an issue installing Windows 10 Pro x64 in VMware Workstation Player 15. Attached are screen shots of the errors I get. My operating system is Windows 7 Pro. I've tried several ways of doing so, the final being 8135-install-windows-10-virtual-machine-vmware-player I am at a loss as what to try next. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hi there

    @ericgies

    Just create the VM using the wizard "Create Virtual Machine" and the Windows install ISO file for the GUEST OS (Windows). You don't need any of those UEFI screens for a Windows VM in VMWARE whether or not your main computer (Host) uses it or not.

    The Create Virtual Machine wizard should guide you through the process.

    Although I use vmware workstation here's the screenshot of vmware player on create virtual machine (I'm on a Linux Host but on Windows the screenshot is exactly the same).

    Windows 10 Install VM Workstation.

    Hi. I've done that, but I still get the same issues. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. Ive tried installing from CD-Rom, ISO on HDD and thumb drive. I have 32 gig of ram and a 2tb HDD.

    Hi there

    you do this from within the vmware program. The vm should boot automatically after it's been installed. Not sure why you'd need a boot manager. Just start the vm from the .vmx file (should get open with--> and a choice of applications if you just double click the vmx file)

    Press Alt-enter to get the vm in windowed mode and then it's easy to take a screen image via snipping tool of what happens when you start the vm (power on it's called).

    (for running a 64 bit guest as well you have to enable VT in the bios (the Host's bios). Don't waste your time setting up the VM to boot in EFI mode - not needed and can cause more problems than it's worth).

    Cheers

    In case anyone else has this issue, I just scrolled down to the EFI VMWARE Virtual SATA CDROM Drive and hit Enter
    Then hit any key to boot from CD
    Started loading the windows 10 installation which I completed as normally done.
