    oh so the virtual machine he is talking about is just a mini copy of windows 10 pro onside the sandbox brink? i was going to say as i have never seen anything like that on my mainstream copy , and i'm not a insider that makes since, just the way the wrote the artical made it sound like there is a whole other copy of windows on my computer in a VM i was ok were did MS hide it lol.

    It's basically just another app.

    It'll most likely be available to the public in the next Spring update.

    Hi there

    @Tonyb

    If you want to try it out then you can get the iso via uupdump or similar

    UUP dump

    Backup existing system before installing from the iso (you can update existing system or install from new BTW) and you don't need to be "an insider".

    Note though

    1) You can't use vmware while using the sandbox so disable sandbox when you want to use vmware again

    2) after using and then disabling sandbox vmware bridged networking gets broken - work around re-install the vmnetware function. You have to do this though after each use of the sandbox.

    3) sandbox currently has limited functionality -- can't alter size or position of the sandbox, can't re-boot it so any software that needs to re-boot after installing won't be any good, and you can't connevt external HDD's / peripherals -- you can though access the sandbox's hdd via network share from the main OS.

    The sandbox is a good idea but rather too limited at the moment -- hopefully Ms will build on this to make it better.

    Cheers
