Under W10 Pro x64 - VMware Workstation 15.x -
High School technology demonstration.
I was wondering if this can be done.
If so where would I get the two OS'es?

No idea about running Win3.x in VMWare. I use Hyper-V (and haven't tried it in that either). However, as a 16-bit app Windows 3.x runs in DosBox (which would be your Dos OS). Don't think running in DosBox can give you network access from 3.11 though.

For the W3.x install files MSDN used to provide a CD called 'Platform Archive' (January 1998). I don't know if MSDN still provide that as I'm retired now. it's been a long time since I had access to MSDN through my employer.
If you try VMWare as well, do let me know if/how it goes....

What a shame, I have 3 computers running MS-DOS with Windows 3.xx in my storage unit, still work except the motherboards need new CMOS batteries.
I don't know, some people are just natural born hoarders.....
I wouldn't give them house room - not because they're too old, it's just that my Win '95 machine(s) already occupy the available space
We're not saying your 3.xx machine aren't any use any more, just that you can't run 3.xx in a VM. You could even have those old boxes on your network if you want (I'd like to see malware try to infect one of those!). I can (and do) network my semi-working '95 laptop (display is dying) when I need to refer to some of its old documents (you'll need SMB1).
