XP and NAS (Samba) access

Thank you for your response. However, I'm not using WinXP virtual machine. It's 2 physically separate machines. And it worked fine before I upgraded from 1803.

I found something else. I have shortcuts (links) on my XP machine to several folders on my Win10 machine. Any of the shorcuts that point to Documents or it's subfolders work. However, the 2 that point to my username "Phil" & the Win10 Desktop give me the error message. So I think something changed in Win10 that's preventing it...but I don't know what it is.

Windows XP will need SMB1 however SMB1 is disabled in later versions of Windows 10 by default.

Go to turn windows features on / off and select SMB1.

Uncheck SMB1 automatic removal and of course ensure the HDD's in the other systems are shareable and you have access to them.

You then need to re-boot BOTH machines. Power BOTH off before starting the re-boots.

I followed your instructions, but I still have the same problem. On my Win10 machine, I can see my WinXP machine & access anything in my "Phil" username or my "Documents" folder. These are the folders in WinXP that I shared.

On my WinXP machine, I can still access anything on my Win10 Documents folder or subfolders. But I can't access my C:\Users\Phil folder or my Desktop. When I try, this is the error I get in WinXP:

(By the way, I just uploaded that png file which was on my WinXP machine, but I'm using Win10 to answer in this forum.) So Win10 has no trouble seeing WinXP.

It's like a setting on my Win10 machine changed when I updated, but I'm not sure which.
