How to install Windows 7 on Hyper V in Windows 10?

Win 10 Pro 1709. VERY, very new to using Hyper-V : ) Created a VM last week with win 10 1803 and while there were a few hiccups it worked as advertised. Yesterday I tried to install window 7 using Hyper-V and it failed miserably. Disc image of win 7 home would not start set up.

    Came across this interesting vid:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2z6MDSI5-vs

where the author was using win 7 pro to create his virtual machine in win 10. I do not believe I followed all of his instructions but in any event I am wondering if a win 7 home iso will not install in Hyper-V and I need a win 7 pro iso for the install and setup to continue? If that is the case then I am SOL! TIA.

If installing as a gen 2 vm, you have to disable secure boot.

It is easier to install as gen 1.

I believe I did disable secure boot but I do not recall ticking any settings about gen 2 or gen 1 as you mentioned and also highlighted in the video. I'll give it another shot on Wednesday (holiday here in the U.S.) when I have some time. Thanks for the quick response

Yeah, it has to be gen 1 as video says.
