    my account locked

This is something that has been going on for at least two years. Every time I go to sign in with my Microsoft account I get this message, “Some one has entered an incorrect password for this account too many times. To help protect you we have temporarily locked …..”. I can then get a code to enter and set a new password, but next time I try to sign in I get the same message. It will happen every time without fail. Frank

Frank, this issue needs a little investigation and tying down

I am assuming that there is no one that is hacked into your system and stealing your password, each time you change it ( if the following cannot tie down a specific issue then this needs to be considered at that time) .

To further tie the issue down you need to try some different Users and see how they

You can try creating another "local user" for testing purposes - if the issue is not present with this type of user then the issue will be with either a corruption with your specific Microsoft account or with how the Microsoft account system is working with your system (PC/Laptop). This second possibility may be tested by creating another Microsoft account ( make up an imaginary adult family member) If the issue stops then there is a corruption with the specific MS account you are using If the issue persists then it is with the way the MS system and yours are working together

I created an account using my wife's name and I used the website address that I have with gmail instead of the one I use 99% of the time. It worked like a charm. I created a MS account with her name and I can log in and out. So now do I delete my account and if so how do I go about it.?

You can delete your original MS account from you System and then use your wife's new ID for accessing the system, however I do not know if there is a way to delete your existing account with Microsoft and then re-create a fresh account - maybe logging in with your MS account at the microsoft site and checking your options there will allow this

You can change the user name actually used to login to your system and it's also possible to change the name of the folder in the Users area, you may also find that you need to move files from you old account User area to the new one ( under users there will now be at least two account structures Old and New - you may also have to change some preferences to suit the way you work as they will be tied into the old account

I would suggest you work with the new account for a while until you are completely happy with the way things are - you can then delete the old account and set it to backup any files left to a folder on the desktop, give it a try and when ready post back and we can walk you through it

Thank you! It’s working great the way it is so I’m just going to let it alone. It has been said, “If your car ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” I’ll go by that.

The same MS account may be used by other device (mobile phone, tablet, computer) either as its primary account or as account used for specific service (most frequently e-mail client). Check your other devices. Or account may be used on the same computer by component which starts before user logon. Try to start in safe mode. Anyway, some component probably tries to logon with wrong/old password and locks your account.
