    Ita1,

In my case the user is not logged in automatically. Instead, it remains logged in unless Alt-F4 is used to logout or restart. To be clear, the other user is never logged in unless the computer was shutdown/restarted using the command from the start button. Of course the account can be logged out then shutdown/restart but Alt-F4 is simpler.

However, just to be sure I checked and the option it was/is disabled on all accounts.

Do this on the account that keeps signed in.
Open the Settings app and go to Accounts > Sign-in Options. Scroll to the bottom until you reach the Privacy section and UNSELECT the option to "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart." Do this for EVERY account on your PC.

Yes, that is the solution the OP found too, given in post #5.

@zino1976, were you having this 'other users' problem too? It started being reported as soon as the Fall Creators Update came out (version 1709, os build 16299.19) but I haven't seen it being reported recently.

If you have just cured the problem on your PC I would be very interested to know what version and build number Winver says you are running.

Sorry for doubleposting then. I did not read the full thread again but remembered that ive registered a while ago to announce that indeed myself was having this problem too since the Fall Creatores update indeed.
Maybe its not that often reported because most of the people possibly use an auto logon admin account with no passwords and such...
I use two standard -limited- accounts and one admin account on the machine that had this problem.
One standard account did have the switch flipped to the on position and that was the account that kept being logged on, in the background. Had this for a while and was anoying and i could recall that ive posted here a while back. Did not read teough the whole thread again but posted what worked for me ultimately.

Don't worry about it. Posting again does no harm - in fact it helps by confirming that it is indeed the right fix and give other readers more chance of finding it.

I haven't seen anyone report this 'other users' problem recently, so I wanted to know if you were still on 1709 or had been updated to 1803. Sounds like you're still on 1709. It will be interesting to see if 1803 exhibits this problem.

Yes, 1803 still has this issue.

I faced a similar issue, turning off password protected sharing enabled the guest account, which is the only other account on my system

this is the only thing that worked for me:

    Shutdown/Restart Windows 10 without Prompting

Good information for those not wanting to password protect their computers. Using Alt-F4 is the best option for those that do.

I was reminding my Wife about using Alt+F4 last week and noticed that the disconnected account was using more CPU and Memory than the active account. Not much but it still seemed strange.

you misunderstood what I said, I needed guests to have access to my shared folder on the domain.
enabling that turns on guest account

that does not make a full guest profile, only access to a share

but resulted in the issue preventing shutdown or restarts
