There is a couple of things.
    1) For the sake of simplicity sign on to Windows 10 with a Local Account(Administrator). That gets one thing out of the way.
The reason being that you are having problems with an MS/Hotmail/Outlook Mail Account. That needs sorting.

You are throwing various other things in to the mix that are nothing to do with that.

    2) How many MS/Hotmail/Outlook Mail Accounts do you have, you seem to be implying you now have 2. Is that correct.

Again thank you Ken for your help and patience.

Okay this is not a Windows thing, this is an Outlook mail thing. I don't understand how you failed the recovery process. I'd call the business office or who ever and tell them you need to speak to someone. Be forceful but polite. One last link to work through.

Calling them again like you say could work, but I just sent them an email outlined in the link you provided. I am going to go through that first before trying another call.

When setting up a new account I really recommend the cell phone for texting codes. It will call home phones as well although coverage is spotty where I live, never understood that. Then add an alternate email account to the new account in case you can't use code. This is for gmail, outlook, Yahoo or iCloud. The accounts are free. Then however you manage tasks, mine are automated, perform sign ins to keep alternate addresses active, say every six months.
I don't have a phone number. I just have internet and that's enough for me and my needs. Besides, I have never like to have everything in one place.

As to copying files and folder. You access the folder or file you want to copy. Right click on it, click on copy, navigate back to your new user folders, right click when you are in correct position, click paste.
I will have to meddle with that later on, But I am not sure I am understanding you. If I make another user whether it is an admin or local account, the way I understand is that windows will make another desktop linked to that user and you you cannot see the others files...I might be wrong on this though. Like I said, I will deal with this later on.

Your machine has been fingerprinted by the MS servers. When you clean install do not use an online account (email), go offline (the word they seem to be using today). Give it a name, a password and carry on.
I don't have a disk or anything to do a clean install as you would understand it. I need to see if out of my copy I can make a bootable disk where I could really make a clean installation. Only the clean installation offered through the settings

If you are concerned you can Image your existing machine using Macrium Reflect. Free, reliable and member recommended. If you can't install Windows 10 clean then restore from this backup.

That the program of choice I've used for at least 2 years. :)

Thank again. I will keep you posted about what happens with the email I sent them.

You can download this tool and run it. (Double click)

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/soft...load/windows10

It will make a USB key with a full version of Windows 10. If you navigate to key and run setup it does in place repair and upgrade. If you boot you can run repairs or clean install.

    Read the tutorials.

If you don't want to validate with phone use an alternate email address. Test it regularly so it stays active. One strategy is to send junk stuff its way so the account get mail. Then when you need to validate it it there.

Thank you for the link. I was sure there must be tools to do that. I need to find out if Windows 10 installed in my machine will be able to do the disk...

I haven't dealt with this type of things for a long time...since windows XP.

Yes. But isn't it funny the way MS applies logic in this case? It asks you for an "alternate" email address, but if you don't check it, it becomes useless. Like saying you make a copy of your house key and place under the mat. But when the times comes to use use because you lost your original key, the copy is not functional anymore because of lack of use...Typical case of "programmers" *thinking*

Thanks again Ken. I'll keep you posted.

    Hello again Ken:

I finally have my email back. Thank you so much for that email address. When I came back from Texas I tried to log in and my password was good again...

I guess all that email exchange talking about my account did it.

I also got my clean install I wanted with another name and no email attached to that. So I am happy.

    Thanks again.

That is excellent news. Please review your recovery info and keep those secondary accounts fresh.

    Thank you Ken.

As to keeping the secondary account active, I'll see what I can do.

    Hotmail Account

Really sorry to use this thread but am going around & around trying to get my old head to function. Cannot even find where to start new post!
I have an hotmail.com account that has, somehow, been deleted. How can I renew or get it back?
Have tried several times but am at a loss how to proceed further.

Perhaps I should delete a/c and "begin again"?

    Thanks and keep well all.

Hotmail/www.hotmail.com still exists, it's Webmail/Online E-Mail, putting in that address should bring up Outlook – free personal email and calendar from Microsoft. The 'eventual' replacement will be Outlook – free personal email and calendar from Microsoft that uses the same address, not to be confused with Microsoft Office Outlook installed E-Mail client [although many folks do].

Or did you use Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, some type of replacement for Outlook Express in Windows XP and earlier?
