    Password issue...


    Hi folks! Would appreciate your help.

    Please move if this post is not in the right forum.

    Have a friend (senior citizen) who bought a 2 in 1 tablet/laptop online. It turns out that he cannot login, because the machine has someone else's password!


    If he does a full reset, back to factory default, will he be able to use his Microsoft account password instead of whatever is on the computer, or, does he need to get a W10 ISO, and reinstall W10 from scratch?

    He won't be able to do a factory reset unless he can log in. If he doesn't want to re-install Windows from scratch (clean install), enable the built-in administrator account using option 5 here:
    Enable or Disable Elevated Administrator account in Windows 10 Windows 10 User Accounts Tutorials

    Once logged in as the built-in Administrator, he can create an account for himself, and delete other users' accounts.
