want no login screen in home pc. Possible?

Windows 10 home 1903. I'm setting up this laptop for home use. I do not need a login screen at all. I changed my account password to just an "enter" key but I still get a login screen when I open the lid to restore from sleep. Can I skip the entire login screen since there is essentially no password to enter? How? Thank you.

Think this what you are looking for.

Sign in User Account Automatically at Windows 10 Startup

You will note in related tutorials, at bottom of tutorial, there is one to avoid on screen on Wakeup ( resume from Sleep)

So do I. A blank password in all I ever use, except for my one little netbook, the only machine I ever take with me on holidays/trips out.

There is a separate setting to set whether a sign in is required on resuming from sleep or hibernation. Its in Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options. Set this to 'Never'. NB: this is set individually for each account, so you'll have to change it in all of them.

...but there's a catch. The option will only be there in Settings while the account has a password.

So, in 'Sign in options' click on Password and set one.

Set Require Sign-in to 'Never', then set a blank password again.

That's only necessary if the account has a password. If it has a blank password then it will sign in automatically and go straight to the desktop at start up. That's what I and the OP have done. It works perfectly, apart from the difficulty in turning off the 'resume from sleep' lock screen.

    Thanks.

But as wakeup tutorial points out, and as you pointed out, you need a password set to get make wakeup work. So then you get the issue of login, or at least that is what happens when I use.

Your trick of going back and setting blank password is very neat, one I had not considered.

I'm the OP and I'm back because I can't seem to get rid of the Sign-in screen on boot up. It still appears. I had changed my password on this W10 home laptop to just [enter] (the enter key) because I could not figure out another way to get rid of the password setting screen. That apparently got rid of the password and the sign-in screen now showed I had "no password". But the sign in screen _still displayed_ and required me to press enter to get past it. So, I recreated a password but still could not find anywhere where on the sign-in screen to set it to "never show the sign in screen". I am not sure what I'm doing wrong. I just want to get rid or bypass the sign in screen on both boot up and on waking from sleep.

OP do you have a password set to your account ?

If you do not have a password then i think Windows will automatically show the login screen with the username everytime you log in. I think that's just how Windows works.

I'm not sure but i don't think you can completely disable the login screen where the username pops up when going to desktop.

Normally if you don't have a password you should only see a screen with your username when logging and then go straight to desktop.

With a blank password then on start up the sign in screen should appear, but sign you in straight away without needing to enter a password or click on anything. You should immediately see your name and 'Welcome' with the spinning dots.

If you still have 'Required sign-in' set to 'When PC wakes from sleep' then on resuming from sleep you do stop at the sign in screen, but there will be no box to enter a password.

If you truly have a blank password then the sign in screen should have no box to enter a password. The only circumstances where it does would be if the account has a password, or if Sign in User Account Automatically at Windows 10 Startup has been set up in the past, and the password has been changed or removed since setting it up.

For the first, set a blank password. If the latter is the case, then remove the automatic sign in. To do this run Netplwiz and tick the box for 'Users must enter a username and password....'.

You are absolutely correct (of course). I now have it working exactly as you describe.

The username appears and then goes on to sign-in without my doing anything. It's the time delay after appearing that made me think it was my impatient pressing on 'Enter' that made it proceed. I just had this 'illusion' that there was a way for the username not appearing at all but that apparently is not in the cards. And that is fine. Sorry for wasting your time and thank you for your patience. You've been very helpful.
