    Hello Wight,

Usually, redoing automatic sign in will fix it for you. When you set it up, the password you enter and computer name is saved as reference to automatically sign in with. If either one gets changed, these references are not updated, and thus giving you the error when it signs in with them. :)

    Hi there

How do you edit the screen -- The Logon screen (or Lock screen if you've temporarily left via Lock the machine) shows email address when you use an Ms account - please specify how you can edit this screen as it's a HUGE security hole.

Removing password isn't a good idea either if your machine is say in a place with a load of other users --your Lock screen should need a password to re-logon.

    @ MICROSOFT

There's no reason to have to use the SAME password to unlock the screen as the logon one so you could easily change the security to allow a different password to unlock the machine.

Also PLEASE allow the email address to be HIDDEN on lock screen for users with Ms accounts when user signs out or simply locks the screen.

    Cheers

Not too sure what you mean by editing the screen is a huge security risk.

I photographed the screen, loaded the image into Photoshop, erased my username & email address & substituted the one that you see. The earlier one that edited in was also false but was subsequently changed to anywhere.com.

Not having a password to log-in isn't a problem for me as the PC is in my home where access is restricted to just me & my wife.

I also don't see the need for a Lock screen & have disabled that.

My problem may be because in addition to the username/log-in I inadvertently set-up up a PIN log-in facility so at the log-in screen I have the option of choosing which way to sign-in.

Is there a way to revert things back to just the username/log-in & ditch the PIN?

    UPDATE:
Have just repeated the netplwiz method & login is now as I like it - automatic.

Thanks to all who have responded.

    Hi there

I meant EDIT on the actual screen (not the image loaded up to the Forum).

In some workplaces it's standard policy to LOCK your computer if you leave your desk for any reason. I'd imagine also in a public Wifi place you might need to lock your screen too - you certainly don't want either at LOGON time people seeing your email address.

If your laptop got stolen or lost -- at least having some type of password affords at least some protection.

I doubt if I'd want to travel with a laptop where I didn't need a password to sign on.

BTW I think reverting back to a LOCAL account means you can just use a classic password and forget about the pin.

    Cheers

As mentioned, the PC is situated in the home.

The only threat would be if the PC was stolen - pause for thought!

I agree that the lock screen is useless, pressing any key raises it to reveal your email!
    They should hide the email!
You can, however, login in to OneDrive and edit your moniker and create an alias email, which doesn't exist and is not verified.

(I blurred it anyway even though it's a BS email)
