Is your external USB DVD drive plugged into a USB 3 Port? Google hints that that can be an issue. Corrupted install media can cause it too apparently.

Alpha is right on with the port. It is recommended to use USB 2.0 for bootables. It may be barking because it doesn't know how to deal with SATA III. It's looking for something more dirt-dumb at that level. Might be the cause of it asking for that driver.

Did you redownload the newest version of the Media Creation Tool? I ask because if you ran an earlier version (old copy) it won't download the latest build of Windows 10. And I do believe the latest build won't fit on a standard DVD. It needs to be a dual layer.

It's either that, or its because its an mSATA drive. Googling "no signed device drivers were found" leads to Windows 7 issues, I didn't see anything specific to Windows 10.

I don't think that matters? If it was an issue, you would think that the MCT wouldn't run and say not supported on this operating system. What Google was throwing back at me was people getting that message while trying to install Windows 7.

I said that kinda wrong. What I was thinking, probably impossible, is it created a Win 10 ISO to burn to his DVD, that included the "guts" of the 7 box, it's architecture, drivers, etc. - thinking he was gonna install it there. Probably not possible.....

It doesn't do that. It just extracts the ISO to the install media and sets the install media up to be bootable. I do believe the option listed is "Create install media for another PC".

Seeing as Windows 7 was included in the free upgrade the MCT should have no issues being run on a Windows 7 PC. I'm pretty sure that's not why he's getting the missing driver message. Not 100% sure, but reasonably sure. If you go here, https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/soft...load/windows10 and click the using the tool you'll see detailed info.
