Don't end up with no Admin account. There are a few instances you need to sign on and use it - changing devices, system settings and so on. Day to day use (installing and running programs) a standard user will be fine.
    Exactly.

I have thought this often, even sent some feedback to Microsoft. It should be impossible to delete an admin account or demote it to standard user if no other admin accounts exist.

The Windows NT branch has always been designed so that you cannot remove or downgrade the last administrator account, this is modified in later operating systems in the series that use UAC, that has the extra hidden administrator account which cannot be removed.

I think that under certain circumstances the last Tokonised Admin account can be removed because the Hidden administrator still exists although it may be totally non accessible to the user

That's my point; it looks as if logics behind this is that because the built-in admin always exists, last local admin account can be removed. Although advanced users know how to work around this, for most normal users that makes Windows almost inoperable.

You can add and remove as many users of what ever level you wish, but this is rarely a need on a home system that is not on a business network. If you ave family members that also use the system you can give them their own login ID which will allow them to set-up their desktop and other preferences.
After re-reading the excerpt above from your post, I have a question:

Is giving family members their own login ID different from creating a standard user account for each person? If so, please provide a link so I can study up on this.

    Thanks.

    Kari,

How did you create the yellow background to highlight the paragraph in Barman58's post? I can only find the way to change the color of the text but not the background.

    Thanks.

I used HL tags (HL = HighLight). Here's a screenshot of that post in editor, HL tags in the beginning and end of the text I wanted emphasize:
