Unable to change name on login screen

On the Windows 10 Pro login screen it shows my email address, I want it to ''show my first name only'' as this is how it is on my laptop.

I also went to sign in option within windows to turn of the privacy settings so it won't show my email address but it still shows up on the login screen.

I have gone to manage my Microsoft account online to try and edit my name, but when I got there my full name was already there.

How can that show my full name in the online account as my username and only chow my email address on the login screen?

And to top it off, I deactivated my password and reactivated it a few hours later whilst I was trying to figure out this annoying issue, now it won't ask for me to sign in at start up, it just goes straight on to my desktop.

I gotta laugh, don't get me wrong I really like Windows 10 but it's beginning to remind me of vista dare I say it, with its issues.

    Any ideas? :-)

    Hello mkcar,

Usually you could use an option in the tutorial below to hide the email address on your sign in screen.

Sign-in Screen Email Address - Hide or Show in Windows 10

If that doesn't work for you, then you might see if you could use this below instead to disable the email address on the sign in screen.

Sign-in Screen Email Address - Enable or Disable in Windows 10

I'm not sure what you mean by deactivating your password since a password is required for a Microsoft account.

My bad! :-/ I was signed in somehow on my other windows account online. Realised I had to verify this current account of Windows pro.

    Sorted. ;-)
