How to make UAC prompt me for my PIN instead of password

    Hi all,

I was wondering how to make Windows UAC prompting me for my PIN be the default behavior, instead of prompting for my password?

I have just reinstalled Windows 10 on my laptop. I used to be able to do that. Now that I have reinstalled Windows 10 it prompts for my password and I always have to click a button that says "Show me other choices" to then being able to choose the PIN option and then type it.

I am using Windows 10 version 1607 and was using it then.

    Thanks in advance.

Sign-in with a Microsoft Account solves my problem

    Well,

I found out that when you sign in with Microsoft Account it asks for a PIN, and after you've got that set up, UAC prompts, as default, for a PIN instead of the user password.

    Hi vitolob,

I realize that this is an old post, but it is still relevant with Windows 10 22H2.

I too recently reinstalled Windows and ran into the same issue. I tried everything that I could think of to restore the PIN as the default UAC option.

As you said signing into my Microsoft account and entering the PIN during the signing in process seems to have done the trick.

Thank you for posting your findings.
