    Permission problems

Since I started using Windows 10, I decided to make my user account an Administrator account because I always ran across a problem by not being able to access certain directories and/or files. I also used the Change Ownership plug-in for Windows to give me ownership of whatever I was having problems accessing. Well, over time, this change to the permissions started causing other problems, which gradually escalated to the point where I would have to do a Windows reset and start over again. I've finally decided to stop messing with the permissions because I'm tired of having to reset Windows and reinstalling all of my applications.

I'm currently having another problem, but I don't want to start messing with the permissions to fix this. My problem now is Windows 10 won't allow me to make changes to the default applications. Whenever I'm in Windows settings and I try to change my default browser to Google Chrome, but it never changes. I've tried changing it in Windows settings, I've tried clicking on the button in Chrome to make it my default browser, but nothing seems to work. Is there any other way to change my default browser or am I going to have to do another Windows reset?

Hello, you might try using the various repairs offered by Tweaking.com's free cautious repair tool to reset permissions.

You cannot (from Win 8) make programs default from within the programs. This has to be done using Settings, Windows GUI (Open With) or Control Panel, Default Programs.
