Picture Password needs reboot to work

A couple weeks ago I received a replacement computer, an HP Envy 17t to replace an HP Envy 15t which was basically a lemon. Both computers had Windows 10 Pro installed. It takes forever for the lock screen to load the password picture. I have three motions set up and the computer freezes after I perform the first motion. If I persists it tells me that I entered the wrong password and I should restart. Problem is I can move the arrow but it doesn't work and I can't restart. the only thing I can do is turn off the computer using the power button. Upon reboot I usually can perform the three motions and go on to the desktop. I was using the same password picture on the old Envy and it worked perfectly. I called HP support and they want me to reinstall Windows. I'm not that computer savvy and It took more than three whole days to get back to normal and reinstall everything and I would really prefer not to have to go through that again. Anyone have any suggestions? I would be very grateful. Thank you.

To set up a picture password, you select a photo of your own choice, and record three gestures over it. Each gesture can be a line, a circle, or a dot, executed in an exact order. You repeat the gestures to log into Windows.

Please go to the Ask me anything area of the TaskBar (bottom left side of the screen) and type in:
    services.msc

Double click on the blue highlighted Services for its window to appear.

In the Services window, scroll down to Credential Manager and double click to open its Properties.

What does it show in its Startup type, and in its Service status?

    CJreef,

Since you are running the Pro version of Windows 10, an option is to turn off the Lock Screen.
Then, you will go straight to the password field, instead of motioning an image.

Disable the lock screen using the Local Group Policy Editor:

Press the Windows key and the R key.
Type gpedit.msc in the Open area to run the Local Group Policy Editor.

In the LGPE window, go to to: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization

Enable the setting: Do not display lock screen

Otherwise, the easiest way to resolve issues with a Windows operating system that constantly freezes is probably a fresh installation.

Yes, HP wanted me to do a clean install, not a pleasant prospect. Since everything else on the computer is working fine I decided to sign in with a pin instead of the picture password. I will u sethe picture of my cat, which I enjoyed seeing every morning, as my desktop background instead of the sign in screen.
Thanks for trying to help.Picture Password needs reboot to work-mo-cropped-3-p1010403.gif This is Maurice. We call him "Mo"

    Glad to help!

The following wiener looks like my Trooper. Also have 2 more: Schnitzel (piebold dachsie) and Liesl (black/tan long hair).
    I enjoy them 24/7!
