PIN and password don't work after latest update

Automatic update pushed last night. Upon restart I typed the PIN I have used since I bought this computer with Windows 10 a year ago. Message said PIN is incorrect. It is not. It's the same PIN. Tried password. Same message. Changed password on another device. I can log in to my Microsoft account on my iPad and Android, but not the PC running Windows 10.

All "help" suggestions say "check to be sure you are connected to the Internet.I CAN'T LOG IN AT ALL! Anybody else having this problem? I have tried restarting holding this shift key and then all the options under troubleshoot. THEY ALL REQUIRE A PASSWORD! WHICJ DOES NOT WORK!

Help me, please, Obi Wan Kenobe. you're my only hope.

Have been looking across net for suggestions but nothing yet.

Like you I need urgent access. Looks like yet again Microsoft have messed things up and we are the ones who are on the recieving end of their incompetence.

I had the same problem yesterday. The only solution was to use my Microsoft live password. Unfortunately, when I went to enter it I received a message that it was incorrect either that or I was entering the wrong one. It was easy enough to change it using the "Forgot password" protocol. Once the password was in place it worked both as a pin and as the Microsoft password. I guess they want to streamline everything to their username and password. Would have been nice to tell us in advance. Whoops, nice going Monolithic, soulless corporation as you attempt to crush the independence that is the very heart of the pc hardcore user. As for my other PCs "I know not what others may choose but, as for me, give me liberty (Linux) or give me death." Patrick Henry (Well known power user)

I don't even know what a Microsoft Live password is. I changed my password and it works on my iPad and Android phone, but not my PC.

    Hi Knighterrant

Managed to get back in by resetting Microsoft password as you suggested. Thanks for your advice.

I hate to say it but Microsoft might be your next stop. One thing a ran across when searching for a solution. See below:

    FYI.
I figured out the issue in my case.
It is the laptop keyboard not functioning correctly. It appears that the driver is not working correctly.
There are some keys that don't work.
Password was not getting entered correctly due to this issue.
In my case it was the key for number 1, and I was able to work around that by using the number pad on the right.
    Hope that helps.
Lesson learnt: Don't be on the bleeding edge.
I will certainly wait for a few months to transition my other devices to Windows 10 until proper drivers for devices are available.

    Hope this helps.
