Freakin' Windows. So I am trying to create a Win10 installation file on my USB drive. I download the media creation tool on the d: drive of another laptop because there is no space on the c: drive. When I run it, it assumes the c: drive and gives no option to change it so I can't create the Win10 install file until I free up 8G, which I can't do. Fun, Fun!

Now I used my son's laptop to run program. Says I need a 3G USB drive which I don't have. Good times.

How about starting your laptop but hammering the F4 key before Windows tries to start to get to the Samsung Recovery and doing a factory restore?

This link will download the Windows Media Creation Tool.
    Code:
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209
Run it, and choose create installation for another PC. You can choose USB of create ISO. I would choose create ISO, but USB might be easier for you. If you choose IS0, then an ISO should download. Extract it with WINRAR or 7zip or the like. Open Windows Powershell as admin. Type in diskpart and press enter. All further instructions will assume enter after command. Type list disk. Look at which number is USB drive. Type sel disk <# of USB drive> without the <>. Clean. Create part pri. sel part 1. format fs=ntfs quick (for BIOS) or format fs=fat32 quick (for UEFI). assign. active. Now you can close Powershell. Open File Explorer then copy ALL of the files from the extracted folder of the ISO to the USB drive. Now you can boot with USB.

You may need to run out and buy one. Don't get anything less than 8 GB. They are cheap.

Check with Samsung support (Google it!) how to restore Samsung 940Z5L to factory settings. There will be a recovery partition on your hard drive which you can access to put everything as it was when you first bought it.

Thanks man. I am set now. In the original set up I did not link the laptop to a MS acct because I did not want to create one. Once I did the factory restore, I created an MS account and linked it to the laptop. Now I can login. I was trying to login in before with the login of the laptop, but apparantly MS forces you to login with an MS account. Pretty lame.

This is solved. Moral of the story is you must setup a Microsoft account or you can't login. My old laptop was Win 7 and that was not the case. The fix was to do a factory restore by booting with F4 held down. Then go through the setup and include a MS account.

I just bought a new Samsung laptop. Went through the setup. Skipped the part on creating a microsoft acount. Set my password for the laptop. Played around for a while and every thing worked great. Shut down PC. Got on this morning and couldn't log in. I know what my password is but I tried every other password I have ever used and can't get in. Booted to Bios to changed priority to boot to USB so I could hack the password, but there is no USB option. Went through all the articles I could find on the web but found no solution.

Any Suggestions? Is it really asking me for a microsoft account login instead of my laptop login?

    Thanks

You will be glad you have a MS account as not having one severely limits what you can do.
