New upgrade to Windows 10, password lost

I have an Acer laptop that is only used for the Internet. The OS was recently upgraded to Windows 10, not by me. The problem is a forgotten or misused password. I can't get beyond enter your password. Does anyone know how to get around this issue? I'd like to reset the password, but Windows 10 isn't letting me do that. Any help is appreciated.
