You have to have a Local account, not a Microsoft account. You can have a PIN, and login with a PIN, as long as you have a Local password. You don't need to download any shortcut, which you would use only once in your entire life. Instead, just open CMD and type: RunDll32.exe keymgr.dll,PRShowSaveWizardExW

Also, this reset disk will only work on the account that created it.

    Hello @david808,

Did you notice that the LAST post in this Thread was 7 1/2 years ago and has been marked as Solved ?
Did you post your answer in this Thread by mistake and it should have been another Thread ?

    Just an observation.

Since this thread has been opened up again anyway,
    - the OP is routinely but quite unproductively using the Built-in Admin account purely for reasons of vanity or self-delusion, and
    - the OP has set a password on the Built-in Admin account, and
    - there have never been any reports of successful use of the Password reset disk with the Built-in Admin account.
    - - It might work.
    - - It might not work.
    - - It might work on Tuesdays.
    - - It might work if you paint your computer bright purple.
    - - This account's limitations & quirks have never been fully documented but have been found to have varied over time. Just for example, it never used to be able to run apps but it can now [last tested a couple of years ago].

The Password reset disk is, in any case, a resource-intensive alternative to a piece of paper.

    All the best,
    Denis
