Want to sign in only using pin

I have windows 10 installed on my laptop and on my desktop computer. I set a pin to sign in on each computer, but suddenly the desk top computer wants my pin and it also requires me to sign into Microsoft account with my password as well. I don't know why it changed, but I'd like to change it back so I only need to use my pin .While this isn't that big a deal, I'd rather just have to use my pin.

    Thanks,
    Mary

    Hi Mary

If you go to the following you can do what you want.

    settings/accounts/Sign-In Options/Pin

    Hope this helps

That didn't change anything. The only option regarding pin is to change the pin. There is no option that I can see to avoid having to use my password as well as the pin.
Whenever I start up or restart my computer I enter my pin, the desktop comes up and I start to use the computer then I get the following notice "Click here to enter your most recent credential to verify your identity" I click on that notice, I'm asked to enter my pin and then I have to enter my Microsoft password in order to continue. When I installed windows 10 on this computer, I set it up to use my pin. I only had to enter my pin once. For the first month or so that worked just fine, then something changed and I have to reenter my pin and my Microsoft password as well and that is what I'm trying to change back to the way it was when I only had to enter my pin once and didn't have to enter my password each time as well.

When asked you have to follow the steps to verify your identity for that account. They will send you a text message or an email containing a verification code which you then enter and that will stop the nagging for verification.

I've done all that, but I didn't receive a text or email. When I enter the password I'm able to continue using the computer, but it continues to require the same thing every time I start or restart this computer.

Well, since I received my verification code and entered it, I don't have specific steps to help fix your issue. You can try Settings -> Accounts -> Manage My Microsoft Account. Play around in there to see what you can do, especially the Security & privacy tab.

Another thing you can try is under Settings -> Accounts, click Sign in to a local account instead. After converting to a local account, go back to Settings -> Accounts and then go back to a Microsoft Account.
